Encapsulated Collection
This 2 piece set took influence from our Collection 1/2021, inspired by the concept of a Rite of Passage.
We felt this concept showed the physical transition from boy to man. It tells a story: cutting away from the past and transitioning through this liminal state of being, while feeling conflicted with who you are & where you are going. In the end, the path leads one to find their direction and allows them to reincorporate back into a new place in society - one that is specifically different to each individual. The Rite of Passage exists as a process of laying a foundation.
"Laying a foundation is very symbolic to me because it relates very personally to the conflict and growth I was going through - since making the collection I feel like I have also gone through this Rite of Passage myself. I have begun laying my foundation for myself and my brand. I think about laying a foundation like laying cement. It takes time to dry and occasionally people are going to not even see that you are laying a new foundation and cross your boundaries and walk all over it. But I believe it's how we recover and react to these actions that can make our foundation even stronger and our journey more exciting."
Laying a foundation is how we came up with the idea for The Encapsulated Collection. The Collection 1/2021 pants that inspired the Encapsulated sweatpants have cording, line work, and paths that resemble growth and change, representing the many paths you can choose to go down. We wanted to create a similar-yet-subtle effect, allowing these paths to blend in as in the foundation and represent what we are now refining. White, black, orange and green were symbolic in our preliminary collection, showing a stark contrast between the grey colour palette of the Encapsulated Collection - we exist as a contrast of what we once were.
Our goal was to create a comfortable set that encapsulates the current circumstances of the world around us - something to provide comfort in a time it's needed.
