Handmade Production

Everything is made in-house at our Studio, by Krin. Aside from our Limited Edition pieces, KRIN pieces are made to order, which means we don’t start any cutting or sewing until your order goes through. KRIN pieces are made specifically for you, which means you may have to wait up to 3-6 weeks for  your order to be shipped out. Each new product, like our business, is developed slowly and thoughtfully, with respect for our customers. Our products take time to design, time to make and test, and time for Krin to change her mind about the fit… again. The more we put in, the more you’ll get out.

We are working to participate in production methods that eliminate waste and only order enough fabric to fulfil our orders. We are also doing this by adopting a pre-order model, so we know how much fabric to order based on demand. We think about waste from the very beginning of our design process by thinking of how we can pattern our garments with the least amount of waste possible. Any fabric waste we create is recycled or used in another project.

Natural Fabrics

Each KRIN piece is designed with care and consideration. We analyze the impact of each fabric throughout its lifecycle and seek out fabric with the highest quality and best performance. We believe that fibers that come from nature are perfect just the way they are. We never blend our fibers with synthetic materials like polyester, and we go to great lengths to ensure our fabrics are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and/or OEKO-TEX certified. GOTS stands alone in its stringent requirements for both environmental and human safety throughout the supply chain.

Local Suppliers

Driven by innovation and a deep feeling of responsibility for the planet, we are constantly researching the cleanest, most sustainable methods for creating our products. We take into account not just the end product, but the impact of its creation all the way from seed and soil through manufacturing and packaging. We have prioritized locally sourced materials and making sustainable efforts in the day-to-day of our supply chain that will make a huge collective impact.

As consumers shift toward a more environmentally conscious and traceable model, we can stand confidently behind everything we make. We know where it’s been, who has touched it, and what has gone into its production.

We have been working diligently to reduce plastic at all levels of our supply and production chain. We have strategically chosen who and where we are getting our materials from based on our elevated standards. All of our suppliers of fabric, notions, packaging, business cards, etc all use eco-friendly packaging. Besides our our mailers, and KRIN labels being from the USA, all our our suppliers are from Canada.

Thoughtful Packaging

We believe the burden of disposing packaging should not be on the customer. We made it easy for you. All of our packaging and mailers (including labels) are biodegradable and carry certifications as 100% compostable.

Our mailers are made from plants; corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). PLA (Polylactide) is a bio-based, biodegradable material made from renewable plant starches such as corn husks, rice straw and wheat straw.

Our stickers and shipping labels are also biodegradable and DO NOT have to be taken off the packaging when you receive it. Our stickers and shipping labels are made from cellulose fiber where the active acid pulp is eliminated during the process. The pulp is sulfur free, meaning that the ink won’t transfer from the sticker and the paper won’t leave behind any chemicals when decomposing. The stickers are printed using a soy ink (made from soybeans). This is a renewable resource, which is an amazing alternative to petroleum-based inks.

Our packaging comes from a Certified B corporation, which means they are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their workers, customers, suppliers, community, and the environment. This is just another way to provide real systematic change beyond packaging.
