OUR STORY

THIS ISN'T FOR EVERYONE BUT EVERYONE ITS FOR

KRIN is a Toronto creative studio dedicated to crafting clothes with an environmental and social focus. Conceived by designer Krin Payne in 2017, the label was born again and reimagined in 2020. Our goal since we launched was to create a menswear brand that designs not what's popular but rather what we think is missing. We design clothing for those that want to stand out, and be seen, who are comfortable in their own skin.

Krin began her career working part-time as an intern at Toronto menswear brand WIL Studios, and androgynous unisex brand Spencer Badu. Graduating from 'X' University in Toronto with a degree in Fashion Design as well studied menswear fashion design for a period of time at Kingston University in London UK.

Alongside her studies, Krin works as a stylist. Through styling, she found she was able to find her voice in menswear. "Often I found myself exploring the women’s sections of stores and warehouses while styling men because I couldn't always see the options available in Toronto specifically that were unique and challenging to the individuals I was dressing."

This gap in menswear is what inspired her to create her own clothing brand that challenges many of the gender norms associated with traditional menswear, and also aims to market confidence and consciousness as opposed to insecurities and disposability that comes as a result of following trends.

“I believe fashion needs to be a reflection of what it means to live today, to be relevant is also thinking about your impact. I hope to be someone that moves the conversation forward, and show that we don’t have to affect the planet with our expression and identity, that sustainability can still be luxurious. There is an inclusion to the clothes I make, all humans, any gender, any identification, all I ask is to allow yourself to be open and allow your inner vulnerabilities to come out.” - Krin
